Restaurant Tidbits

I have out of town guest all week, starting yesterday. There will be much going out and good times for everyone. But here are few restaurant items that have occurred this week.

I went to Rathbun's last night with my JLA group. The food was great, no question. Liza and I split that Greek, fried cheese appetizer thing that is to die for. My scallops were perfectly cooked. My appletini was fab. However, the service was beyond lacking.

Here is my complaint and do feel free to disagree. Myself and 3 others were early or on time. The other 5 were late. This was due to the horrendous traffic that occurred in ATL yesterday. Several people left 1 hour early from Perimeter and were still 30 minutes late. So we are fault, yes. If the restaurant did not want to honor our reservation it was their perogative to not. Tell us at the beginning to go around the corner to Krog Bar. We would have been OK with that. But, PLEASE, don't seat us, treat us like crap, hit one person's chair (HARD) and not apologize and then get caught bad mouthing the group to a busboy. We were easy for a large group. Come on! There was no excessive drink runs or to much indecision from a group of 9 who had not seen each other in a month. AND we all said "please" and "thank you". We are in the South after all.

Everyone liked the food, but we were split 50/50, hate-to-indifference on the service.

My friend Carrie is in town from Nashville. There was a special request for a "melted cheese" night. So off to Nuevo Laredo we went. Food was typical. But the restaurant was having its 15th Anniversary Party. Nothing like Mariachis in your face while you try to eat.

Carrie did really like the food, though. She got the chicken enchiladas and said the chicken was much better than what she is usually able to get in Nashville. Ed and I always get the same dishes. Carne Asada tacos and cheese enchiladas. Good as usual.

More to come.
